Professional Development with Horror University Online

HORROR UNIVERSITY is one of the most successful and popular aspects of StokerCon™. We are proud to now offer Horror University online for anyone who wishes to attend. Horror University furthers the Horror Writers Association’s focus on education with a curriculum run by some of the best and brightest in the horror field.
HORROR UNIVERSITY ONLINE offers a series of 90-minute to two-hour workshops. They are not your typical workshop experiences—they are hands-on, intensive classes that include interactive activities and exercises. Workshops will initially be live events, but many will be offered as recordings year-round for students who register after the live session.
To see what classes we offer and register for a course, please visit Horror University Online (teachable.com).
HWA members are eligible for a discounted rate for Horror University courses. To find the most recent coupon codes, visit the Members-Only discounts page.
Horror University is open for proposals! Horror University will launch a series of workshops roughly every quarter. Workshop spaces for all sessions are limited, and HU Online strives to provide a workshop selection that serves the need of HWA members and horror writers in general. If you are interested in teaching a course on Horror University, please use the form here to submit your idea.

Any member of HWA may recommend works for the Bram Stoker Award®. If you’re uncertain about the work’s eligibility, please check the rules first.
You may not recommend your own work to the membership at large. You may only recommend someone else’s that you enjoyed.

HWA’s Health Insurance Partnership With LIG Solutions
On June 10, the Horror Writers Association and a coalition of book and publishing industry organizations announced a health insurance partnership with Lighthouse Insurance Group (LIG) Solutions.
To help members understand the partnership and what it means for them, HWA has created this frequently asked questions document based on a FAQ created by the American Booksellers Association. For questions not answered here, please contact HWA Administrator Brad Hodson at admin@horror.org.
